Alex completed a music degree at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, studying Classical Guitar under Christopher Parkening. Alex started studying piano at the age of eight. At age 15, he started studying the classical guitar. In February 2014, he was a finalist at the Pacific Guitar Festival in Monrovia, CA in the chamber mixed division. He also placed Honorable Mention at the 2013 Parness Concerto Competition, sponsored by the Culver City Symphony Orchestra playing the Concierto de Aranjuez by Joaquin Rodrigo, and he was also a finalist in the 2013 Pacific Guitar Festival in the solo division. He has participated in masterclasses from Christopher Parkening, Andrew York, Detlev Bork, and the Ironwood Duo. In July 2013, he completed a Pepperdine Summer Music Program at Heidelberg, Germany, where he performed at Heidelberg and Hermagor, Austria.
